We are honored to share the journey of Dahlia, a disabled Navy veteran and devoted mother of three from the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

Dahlia proudly served our country but sustained a severe injury while stationed in Japan, leaving her partially wheelchair-bound. Now home, she relies on her children for help with everyday tasks—bathing, cooking, cleaning, and laundry. Her bathroom, however, posed a serious safety hazard. The simple act of stepping over a bathtub had become a dangerous challenge, causing back and leg pain and increasing her risk of falling. Transfers from her walker to her shower chair were difficult and precarious.

Our Mission: Give Dahlia Her Independence Back

Our goal was clear: remove the outdated tub and replace it with a barrier-free shower that would restore Dahlia’s independence and peace of mind. And thanks to your generous support, we made it happen—just in time for the holidays.

We’re proud to announce that Dahlia’s bathroom renovation is complete! Her once hazardous bathroom has been transformed into a safe, ADA-accessible space she can use with confidence.

Highlights of the Renovation:

  • A wheelchair-friendly, walk-in shower

  • A built-in bench in the shower

  • Hand-held shower head

  • Grab bars for added safety and easier transfers

  • New flooring

  • Repaired walls

  • A modern vanity

All of these upgrades were made with her comfort, dignity, and mobility in mind.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to Brandon and the incredible team at JH Contractors, who went above and beyond, working right through Christmas Eve, to ensure Dahlia’s project was finished before the new year. Their dedication and compassion reflect the spirit of this mission.

This is what YOUR support makes possible! Each ramp, stairlift, and bathroom remodel we complete is a direct result of the kindness and generosity of our community. You helped give Dahlia not just a safer home, but the ability to care for herself and her family without fear.
