James Crezzo, a veteran who proudly served his country after being drafted, has carried that same sense of duty and resilience throughout his life. Born in New Jersey, James answered the call to serve during a time when his country needed him most. He served as an artillery surveyor, an essential and demanding role that required precision, focus, and strength.
James took great pride in his service and in contributing to something greater than himself. His time in the military shaped his character and reinforced the values of discipline, perseverance, and commitment that he still carries with him today.
However, like many veterans, James returned home with lasting physical challenges. He suffered an injury to his right wrist that required surgery and extensive rehabilitation. Despite weeks of recovery, his wrist never regained full strength, continuing to impact his daily activities.
James is now living with venous insufficiency in his legs, a condition that causes swelling, weakness, and significant mobility challenges. Tasks that were once simple, lke climbing stairs or stepping into a bathtub, have become increasingly difficult and unsafe.
As a result, James is homebound and has been confined to living in his basement, which previously only had access to a toilet. To restore his dignity, safety, and independence, we built a fully accessible shower, creating a safe space where he can bathe comfortably and on his own.
This project will make a meaningful difference in James’s daily life by allowing him to safely and independently use his bathroom. It will restore a sense of confidence and security in his own home. Something every veteran deserves.
