07.29.26 Veteran Luncheon in Honor of America's 250th Birthday! | Partnering with Ocean First Bank at the VA Hospital in the Bronx

In celebration of America’s 250th birthday, Homes for Veterans partnered with OceanFirst Bank and the OceanFirst Foundation to host a special Veteran Appreciation Day at the James J. Peters VA Medical Center in the Bronx. We spent the afternoon with veterans living in the Community Living Center, sharing a catered lunch from Arthur Avenue, handing out care packages filled with essential items, and most importantly, sitting down and listening to their stories.

Among the veterans we had the honor of meeting were a 97-year-old veteran and a 91-year-old Korean War veteran. Hearing their memories, their experiences, and everything they have witnessed throughout their lives made this day incredibly special.

A huge thank you to OceanFirst Bank and the OceanFirst Foundation for making this day possible, and especially Julie and Katherine for not only supporting the event, but traveling from South Jersey to volunteer alongside us.

Sometimes giving back is as simple as showing up, listening, and reminding our veterans that no matter how many years have passed, their service and sacrifice will never be forgotten.
