October 18th, 2025 - Newark Stand Down in Partnership with NJSOS
Homes for Veterans was incredibly proud to stand alongside so many amazing organizations at the NJSOS Veteran Stand Down in Newark, NJ. An event where more than 250 veterans came together, and over 40 vendors showed up united by one mission: supporting those who served our country.
This day not only provided veterans with resources but also showed veterans that they are seen, valued, and supported by an entire community that truly cares.
Thanks to our incredible partners at the Wounded Warrior Project, we were able to distribute:
-
110 winter coats
-
200 sweaters to veterans in need
In addition, we received 150 brand-name winter coats generously donated by Matthew Friedman of Rothschild & Co., helping ensure that no veteran goes cold this winter.
Veterans were also able to enjoy hot dogs, hamburgers, food, refreshments, and fellowship throughout the day while connecting with organizations offering housing resources, wellness services, support programs, and essential supplies.
What truly stood out was the sense of compassion and community shared throughout the event. Seeing so many organizations, volunteers, and supporters come together for our veterans was incredibly meaningful and a reminder that no veteran should ever feel forgotten.
At Homes for Veterans, our mission goes far beyond home modifications. We are committed to making life safer, warmer, more accessible, and more dignified for our nation’s heroes. Events like this remind us that when people come together with heart and purpose, real impact happens.
