I write today with a heavy heart to share the sad news of the passing of Frank Bevacqua, a veteran whose bathroom renovation many of you helped bring to life. Frank had been eagerly anticipating the completion of his new accessible bathroom in Boonton, New Jersey. He was deeply grateful for the outpouring of support he received, and his excitement for the transformation was incredibly moving.

Just days after the project was completed, Frank developed a sudden bladder infection that led to serious complications. Despite medical efforts, he passed away in the hospital. His family is devastated, and we mourn alongside them.

Before we had the chance to step in, Frank had suffered two painful falls in his old bathroom while trying to shower, even with his son’s assistance. The injuries he sustained from those falls were significant. It’s hard not to wonder what might have been different had we been able to reach Frank sooner.

Although Frank is no longer with us, his newly renovated bathroom will continue to serve his family. His wife remains in their home, and their son, a Marine veteran, will also benefit from the accessible modifications we were able to provide. It is a quiet but meaningful legacy of Frank’s strength and your compassion.

This project would not have been possible without the support of our partners at Catholic Charities and the Knights of Columbus. Their dedication to veterans and their families continues to make a tangible difference.

To each and every one of you who donated, supported, or shared Frank’s story—thank you. Your kindness brought comfort to a family in a time of need and created a lasting impact that will continue beyond Frank’s life. His story is a reminder of how urgent and necessary this work is. Together, we will keep honoring veterans like Frank by ensuring others can live with the safety, dignity, and peace they deserve.
